Tony was born on April 26, 1952, to H.S. and Thelma Mason Stiles. A 1970 graduate of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Tony played football and built lifelong friendships during his school years. After high school, he began his career with Atlanta Gas Light Company in Marietta, GA.
In 1972, Tony answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He served with distinction, working in a fighter squadron to coordinate aircraft repairs and ensure the safety of pilots. During his service, Tony was stationed aboard the USS Intrepid and later the USS Forrestal. He was honorably discharged in 1975 and returned to Marietta to continue his career with Atlanta Gas Light Company, where he worked for 42 years before retiring in 2012.
On February 23, 1971, Tony made the most important decision of his life when he gave his heart to Jesus Christ. He was a longtime member of Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs, GA, where he shared his faith and love for gospel music through his remarkable bass voice. Tony sang in several gospel groups, including the Monitors Quartet and the Mike Leming Singers, as well as in church choirs. His voice brought comfort, joy, and the message of God's love to all who heard him.
Outside of music, Tony enjoyed playing golf and spending time at the beach. But above all else, he cherished every moment with his family especially his grandsons, Eli and Sam, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, H.S. and Thelma Stiles; sisters, Jeannie Barrett and Pat Hull and brother-in-law, Ed Hull.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Stiles; son, Brian Stiles and daughter-in-law, Heather Stiles; beloved grandsons, Eli Stiles and Sam Stiles, all of Knoxville, TN.
Tony's life and legacy will be remembered for his gentle heart, steadfast faith, and enduring love for his family and friends. He was deeply admired and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
