

She was a Young High School graduate in the class of 1951. She married the love of her life on Valentine's Day in 1953. Patricia briefly worked for J.E. Lutz Insurance Company. In 1970, she went to work at Park National Bank continuing her career for the next 25 years with First American Bank which was later acquired by Regions Bank. She was a lifelong, devoted, and faithful member of Stock Creek Baptist Church, where she volunteered as the assistant church treasurer and taught 30 plus years as a Sunday school teacher. Patricia loved camping, singing in the choir, and reading her Bible. Yet, one of her most treasured loves was being “Mamaw” and caring for her only grandchild, Corey.
She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Merlyn French, sisters Joella Bennett and Carolyn Freed, and son-in-law Don Wise.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, James Wendell Smith (J.W. - Jim); daughter Pamela Smith Wise; son Wendell Craig Smith and daughter-in-law Susanne; grandson Corey Wendell Smith; sister Susan Stogner (Larry) and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Stock Creek Baptist Church, 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, with a memorial service to begin at 6:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest immediately following in the church cemetery with Pastor Buddy Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stock Creek Baptist Church.
