Rita Jo Bell

Rita was born on September 5, 1944, to the late William and Geneva Brakebill. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and steady presence touched everyone who knew her.

She was a longtime and faithful member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church, where she shared many cherished friendships and found great joy in fellowship and service.

Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Bell; her son, Derrick Bell (Kim); her daughter, Monica Tillery (Jeff); three grandchildren, Leah Lee (Jordan), Erika Bell, and Kylor Tillery (Sarah); and two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Lee and Barrett Lee. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Kirkpatrick; and her faithful companion dog, Bella.

The family extends special thanks to Rita’s dear friends Barbara Woody, Linda Pittman, and Rosemary Lovelace for their unwavering love, care, and support during the past 20 months. Their compassion meant more than words can express.

Rita will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family will meet at the Cemetery for a graveside service at the New Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery , 6200 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37920, United States on January 28, 2026, to start at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Gerald Anders.
