Robert Ronald Elmore, age 91, passed away on July 27th, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. He attended First Baptist Church of Sevierville,Tennessee. After graduating from Bradley Central High in 1952, he went on to study chemical engineering at the University of Tennessee (1957). He started his first job at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, as a design engineer. This is where he met his future wife, Carol Greene, (LaFollette, TN) in 1963. His engineering career spanned 49 years working for nine companies in 10 different cities. Robert ( AKA Bob) pursued additional training in different disciplines of engineering and held positions as a mechanical, environmental, and safety engineer.
A large portion of his career was spent working in Pensacola, Florida, including American Cyanamid and the Pensacola Naval Air Station. He and Carol raised their two children, Robert Scott Elmore and Lori Jill Elmore in Pensacola. However, when asked, his career highlight was working as an environmental engineer helping to safely clean up the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant; site for future use by Volkswagen and Amazon in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bob continued working until he retired at the age of 72 years. He was lovingly referred to as “Chef Elmo” as he would bake cakes and meals to bring to his coworkers in show of appreciation.
Bob and Carol retired in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. In his retired years, Bob enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's sporting events, family beach trips and local Dollywood visits. He enjoyed yard work, taking care of the family farm, and tinkering on machines of all kinds. He was a faithful Christian man and helped in establishing new churches in both Pensacola,Florida, and Cleveland, Tennessee. Bob was thankful that God blessed him with many skills and he found much joy in personally creating cards for all his family for holidays or when he thought you just needed a reminder that you were loved.
