Ronald "Ronnie" Mitchell Stinnett, 79, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. He was born December 19, 1945, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to the late James Robert Stinnett Sr. and Virgie Lee Breeden Stinnett. He was known to many as "Big Ron."
Ronnie was a lifelong resident of South Knoxville and a proud 1964 graduate of Young High School. He was a devoted member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
For many years, Ronnie worked at Comer's Sports Center. He was known for his friendly demeanor. He had a passion for rabbit hunting with the group at Pinkston Motors and was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. Ronnie's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, Savannah and Hunter.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George Stinnett, Bob Stinnett, and Larry Stinnett; and his sister, Barbara Campbell.
He is survived by his son, Justin Stinnett and his wife Lisa; his daughter, Jennifer McLean and her husband Harold; his cherished grandchildren, Savannah and Hunter Stinnett; his ex-wife, Mary Ann "Susie" Stinnett; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held at Berry Funeral Home, Chapel, located at 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, on November 20, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 7:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Jerry Crye.
A graveside service will take place at Stock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, on November 21, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Pallbearers will be John Warren, Jody Moore, Mitchell Moore, Drew Houser, Kevin Mynatt, Brent "Spanky" LaSorsa, Phillip Hodges, and Wes Maples.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Chapel Baptist Church at 6137 Rudder Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920 or Sacred Ground Hospice House.
