

Rose-Delia Ríos (Carrasco), age 91 of Knoxville, formerly of Phoenix, passed away January 26, 2022. She was born on August 7, 1930. A lifelong Methodist, she was married to the Rev. Horacio M. Rios and as wife of a minister, while raising their four children, she served in the church and many parachurch ministries throughout her life wherever they lived. Beginning in L.A., CA, then Waco and Dallas, Texas, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Chihuahua, Mexico, Phoenix, AZ, San Diego, CA, Nashville, TN and finally, Knoxville, TN.
Over many decades she led choirs, church fundraisers, youth groups, and always graciously hosted anyone who would come to her home. She served many times as president of both UMW and Church Women United. She traveled widely in ministry including most of Mexico, Puerto Rico and even Cuba. Her greatest venture abroad was to China in 1979 in a special program for American women in leadership.
For the last 30 years she was widely known in Knoxville for teaching Spanish in local businesses and homeschool classes, for her beautiful paper flowers and pinatas, and for her authentic and delicious tamales.
Above all else she loved her family and invested much of her life in helping to raise all of her grandchildren.
Rose-Delia is preceded in death by her siblings, Amelia Tellache; Oscar Tellache; Alfonso Tellache; Aida Tellache; and Elizabeth Carrasco Garza. She is survived by her sisters Helen Stettner (Chuck); Josephine Lewis (George Brown); and Edith Muegge, her children, Ricardo Rios (Kim); Raul Rios (Valerie); Renee Rios Weber (Chuck); Ruth Rios Atkinson (Larry Aldredge), her dear grandchildren, Brandon Rios (Jessie); Ryan Rios (Tia); Cristina Weber; Alicia Schenck-Mahnke (Cody); Lilia Weber; Marcela Weber; Grace Weber; Charles Weber II; Elizabeth Atkinson; and Drew Atkinson, her great granddaughter, Daisy Rios; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN on May 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to any ministry of Church Street United Methodist Church. 900 Henley St., Knoxville, TN 37902.
