William (Bill) David Cope

COPE, WILLIAM D. (Bill) age 83 of Knoxville passed away April 16, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born in Newport, TN. He graduated from U.T. and taught school in Knox County. He served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. Preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn, son Paul, brothers; Jack, Y.J. and Don. Parents John Osborne and Maude Ella McMahan, step-daughter, Kimberly Green. Survived by wife Alza , children; David (Pam) Cope, Elizabeth (Mike) Smith and Jim (Nancy) Cope. Step Children Teresa (George) Ford, Lisa (Randy) Hodges, Sheri (Arland) York, Jeffrey Pruitt. Sister Beverly (Rankin) Little of Manchester, TN. Grandchildren, Heather Rankin, Lori McDaniel, Bryan Smith, Jonathan Smith, Brandy Cox, Todd Ford, Steven Fairchild, Stephanie Fox, Brittany York, Eric York and Olivia Ford, fourteen great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Weavers with a chapel service to follow at 8 pm. Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:15 pm Thursday at Union Cemetery in Newport, TN. for a 12:30 pm interment.
