

Carver, William Luther, was born July 24, 1930, in Kaiser, TN and died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at NHC-Ft. Sanders, in Knoxville where he was a resident. Mr. Carver and his care givers fought against his disease of dementia for over a year and a half. “Bill” to some and “Luther” to others, Mr. Carver was blessed with a great smile and few would disagree with the statement that “he never met a stranger.” Mr. Carver, a printer, was a United States Army Veteran who fought for his country in Korea and attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Carver enjoyed reading, cars, playing checkers, road trips and dancing. Preceded in death by parents, Ira and Artie Bell Carver; wife, Elizabeth Anne Underwood Carver; son, David Carver; brothers, Herman Carver, Ellis Carver. Survived by brother, Lawrence Carver; daughter, Deborah Carver, of Charlottesville, VA; son, Matthew Carver, of Knoxville; daughter, Ellisa D. Carver; son-in-law, Richard Dew; sister-in-law, Joyce Carver, of Seymour, TN; daughter-in-law, Margaret Carver; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ray Smelcer. A “special thank you” to his caregivers, Tiffany, Omega, Betty, Mike, Liz, Daniel, Jermaine, Almar, Nancy, Charlotte, Holly and all of his many dedicated, loving and kind caregivers.
