

HANCOCK, William Walton, age 84, passed away on November 23, 2015. He was a devoted husband of 48 years and a loving father and grandfather. Originally from Thorngrove, he moved to Knoxville when he returned from his service in the U. S. Army in Korea and met and married Mary Etta Sellers. His occupation in life was primarily bookkeeping. He was employed for decades at Levi Strauss, Swan’s Bakery, and Cole Rich/John Daniels. Mr. Hancock was a Non-Denominational Christian. He enjoyed his grandchildren and time with family. He was a 3rd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, Robert and Ethel Hancock; brothers, Claiborne and Eulas; sisters, Ruby, Ruth, and Betty; nieces, Billie Kate, and Dean; son-in-law, Gary Russell. He is survived by daughters, Donna Hancock Russell and Sue (Bobby) Lowery; granddaughters, Crystal Renee Henson and Amber DeAnna Lowery; nephew, Wayne Chambers; and friends and family too numerous to mention but equally loved. The family will receive friends at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home on November 28, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 p.m. at Pollard Cemetery on November 29, 2015 for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service.
