

Humphreys, Jr., William E. “Bill” –age 81 of Knoxville, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Bill retired after 34 years of service from Union Carbide Y-12 Plant. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Bill was a member of Bright Hope Lodge #552 F&A,M; member of EAA; member of East Tennessee Pilot’s Club, Sky Ranch Airport. He was an avid pilot and AP and IA aircraft mechanic and built a Starduster Aerobatic Airplane. Preceded in death by parents, William E. Sr. and Anna Muriel Humphreys; son, Cary J. Humphreys; brothers, Bob and Ben Humphreys. Survivors include wife, Betty L. Dobbs Humphreys; son and daughter-in-law, William E. III and Rebecca Humphreys; daughter-in-law, Judy Humphreys; grandchildren, Christopher Humphreys, Suzanne Nicole Price and Heather C. Humphreys; four great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 22, 2010 for a 1:00 PM interment service, Rev. Tom King and Rev. Jim McPherson officiating.
