

Routh William Edward, age 75, passed away at UT Medical Center on Friday, January 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Edward was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on September 12, 1938. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Knoxville Jaycees. He worked for Millers Department Store and U.S. Shoe Corporation. William was preceded in death by his former wife, Jeane Routh Herndon; brother, James Routh; sister, Thelma Routh Morgan; parents, William and Edith Routh; former mother-in-law and father-in-law, Katie and Donald Gryder;and former brother-in-law, Thomas Gryder. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Stansberry Boling and husband, Roger Boling, son Robert Routh and wife, Carrie Routh; granddaughters, Christie and Katelyn Stansberry; brother, George Routh; former sister-in-law, Dorene Gryder and brother-in-law Geoffrey Gryder; everal nieces, nephews and close friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a Celebration of William’s life to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 9:30 AM for the committal service.
