

Anne Travis Herchenroeder, 92, formerly of Kokomo, died at 10:44 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at her home in Sheridan, Indiana. She was born February 17, 1930, in Richmond Heights, St. Louis County, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn Albert and Mary Evelyn (Byrne) Shaub. On February 23, 1952, in Webster Groves, Missouri, she married Robert B. Herchenroeder, who preceded her in death.
Anne was a 1948 graduate of Webster Groves High School, received her BA in Social and Behavioral Sciences in 1977 from Indiana University-Kokomo, and completed her MS in Education at Purdue University in 1984.
Anne was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and volunteered at Birthright of Kokomo. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed genealogy, bridge, square dancing, Indiana state parks, and travel. Friends knew her as a good listener, a wise counselor, and a keeper of confidences. Her family benefitted from her constant support, her non-judgmental love, and her generous spirit. She remembered birthdays, and she was fond of mailing children’s books to her grandchildren.
Anne is survived by ten children: Nancy Riemenschneider of Newburgh, IN; Michael Herchenroeder (Eunice) of Cedar Hill, TX; Miriam Kauk (Myron) of Newburgh, IN; Louis Herchenroeder (Shelly) of Westfield, IN; Patricia Partyka (Richard) of Summerville, SC; John Herchenroeder of Sheridan, IN; Kathryn Name (John) of Sheridan, IN; James Herchenroeder (Laurie) of Harrodsburg, KY; David Herchenroeder (Janet) of Tucson, AZ; and Peter Herchenroeder (Catherine) of Tucson, AZ; and her 39 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Shaub.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 South Pearl Street, Cicero, IN, with the Reverend Fr. Sean Pogue the celebrant. Friends may call at Eller’s Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, from 5 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29. A Rosary Service will begin at 7:30pm. Contributions may be made to Birthright of Kokomo (3712 Southlea Drive, Kokomo, IN 46902), with envelopes available.
