Carma Jean Keown, 81, of Windfall went home to be with her Lord November 15, 2019 in her home with her children at her side. She was born October 29, 1938 to William and Lilly Beth (Davis) Lawrence in Stoddard County, Sexton, Missouri.

Carma graduated from Windfall High School in 1954 and went on to earn her beautician’s license, and later, became the second lady in the state of Indiana to become a licensed mechanic. She married Elder Keown in July of 1964 and together they raised their family in Windfall. In addition to working at Haynes International for more than 30 years, she and Elder owned and operated several filling stations in both Kokomo and Windfall. She also ran and maintained a working farm and raised her family, being the sole caregiver to her grandmother, mother, brother and husband as they aged and fell ill. Carma was the glue of the family, keeping them all together. Even after retiring from Haynes, she never quit working, she became an in home health care worker out of Tipton Hospital. Carma was a nurturer, always wanting to care for others before herself, always sharing the light of the Lord with those around her. Carma was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Carma is survived by her children, Danny Turner and Beth Draper; grandchildren, Danny E., Billy B, Alissha K., Jacob A. and Tommy L.; great grandchildren, Danny M., Chris, Seth, Shayna L, Jackson and Hayden; and one great great granddaughter.

Carma was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lilly Beth Lawrence; her brother Junior Lawrence; and her husband, Elder Keown.

Family will receive friends Monday, November 18 from 4-8pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. First and foremost, I love this women. She was a second Mom to me. She has been a part of my life for longer than I can remember! While we were miles apart, whenever I was visiting my parents Emmett and Carol Keown, I would stay the evenings and mornings with Aunt Carma. She was always caring, a good listener and offered great hugs. So much more I can say but not enough space. I will miss Carma always! She loved the Lord, and he has called her home, our loss his gain! Love you Beth and Danny,
cousin Lois💋

Aunt Carma was truly a blessing to me and anyone who knew her. She and I shared so many fun times when she and I got together over food. I loved her dearly and prayers are going out to her family for the loss of such a wonderful person.
