Obituary of Charles W. Polston
Charles Wesley Polston, 87 of Kokomo, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday February 10, 2019. He was born July 17, 1931 to Ollie (Castle) and Wesley "Ted" Polston. Charles married Patricia (Smith) Polston in July 31, 1953 in Marion. She passed away in 1995. Charles graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1949. During High School, Charles was proud to have been an Eagle Scout. He enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 19 in 1950. Charles served in the Korean Conflict for three years before he was discharged Honorably. Charles retired from the Kokomo Tribune in 1993 after 30 years. He also worked for RCA in Marion prior to the Tribune. Charles enjoyed gardening, camping and woodworking. Charles was an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed watching sports, especially I.U. football and basketball. Surviving him are his daughters Linda Johnson and Catherine Tranbarger (Jerry), sons Charles Polston (Robin) and David Polston, a sister Nelda George (Richard), grandchildren Christopher Johnson, Elisabeth Belleville (Christopher), Melissa Irvin (Sean), Heather Polk (Jeremiah), Atticus Polston, Emmett Polston, Mark P. London (Megan), Carissa Seagrave (Andrew), Laura London and her fiancé Michael McKittrick, and 17 great grandchildren. Those who have passed before him are his parents, his wife Patricia, and infant brother Michael Allen Polston. Services for Charles will take place Thursday February 14, 2018 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel at 10:00 am officiating. Friends and family may visit Wednesday evening at the mortuary from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. There will be Military Honors at the graveside with the U.S. Marine Corps and the Kokomo VFW.
