Danny "D. Joe" Joe Griggs Jr.

Danny Joe “D. Joe” Griggs Jr., 47, of Kokomo, passed away on February 6, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born on May 2, 1977 in Kokomo, to Danny Joe Griggs Sr. and Vicki (Haworth) Griggs. Danny married the love of his life, Misty (Ridgeway) Griggs on September 5, 1998.

D. Joe worked at Hacienda for 28 years. He was passionate about cooking and just recently worked as a teacher’s aide for the Culinary Arts Program at Kokomo Area Career Center. He was an amazing mentor to many students. D. Joe enjoyed watching sports, as his favorite teams were the Colts and the Cubs. D. Joe enjoyed playing softball, telling dad jokes, being a beer connoisseur, and shooting - earning his nickname "Gunner". D. Joe was a protector to his family, who he loved very much. He will always be the Man, the Myth, the Legend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Misty; two daughters, Kaly Griggs and Delaney Griggs; two granddaughters, Araya Johnson and Aayla Johnson; mother, Vicki Griggs; sister, Amber Griggs; nephew, Kaiden Hendrickson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; many “bonus” children; and his canine companion, Luckey.

He is preceded in death by his father, Danny Joe Griggs Sr.; paternal grandparents, David and Agnes Griggs; and maternal grandparents, Danny and Sharon Haworth.

There will be a visitation for D. Joe on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM until the time of the Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary - Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Pastor Michael Markley will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bond Cemetery, 8704 S Bond Cemetery Road, Amboy, Indiana 46911.
