Doyle Patrick Daly, 90, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1st, 2018. Pat was born to Ancil and Hildred Daly on August 18th, 1927 in Kokomo. Pat graduated from Kokomo High School in 1946 where he humbly held the record for the longest running-back return on the football team. He worked at Delco for 41 years. Pat married his wife of over 67 years, Peggy Fisher, on September 16th, 1950 in Kokomo, and she survives.
Pat loved to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. One of their favorite activities together was recording made-up stories to entertain his grandchildren. There was nothing that would embarrass him- he would do anything to make his grandchildren smile. Pat was always supportive of the grandkids' activities, Grandparent's Day in particular. He loved going to the Father and Daughter Romps at Kokomo High School with his nieces Janet, Jane, and Judy, and eventually with his own daughters. He loved to work and repair things in his garage. He often visited garage sales. He crafted miniature couches and chairs for children. Pat was very involved in his church, Judson Road Christian Church, and served as a Deacon. Pat was the co-leader of the Forever Young Ministry for 25 years. He was also the Lead Hummer of the Hum-Dingers. Pat liked to play Buck Euchre with all of his in-laws. He worked as a professional painter during and after his time at Delco. Pat enjoyed listening to music, and dancing with Peg. He was also talented at playing the harmonica.
Pat was known for being generous, kind, humble, patient, gentle, joyful, forgiving, honest, and loving. He had an infectious laugh and always had a smile on his face. His source of happiness came from his relationship with Jesus.
Pat is survived by his wife, his daughters Nancy (Kim) Drake and Cindy (Nathan Holl) Tino; daughter-in-law Bev Daly; sister Margaret Brown; grandchildren Summer (Bret) Bailey, Cameron (Tori) Daly, Carah (Cameron "C2") Havens, Aubrey Drake, Dr. Clayton (Arianna) Tino, Dr. Coty Tino, and Adrienne (Mike) Scherschel; great-grandchildren Boston, Mia, Briley, Norah, Asher, Jake and Maisie; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat is preceded in passing by his parents; son Patrick "Joe" Daly; siblings Kathleen, Max, and Evelyn.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 7th at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Friday June 8th at 11:00 AM, also at the mortuary. Pastor and son-in-law Kim Drake will officiate.
