Evelyn Carolyn (Albright) Kibler, 83, of Kokomo, went to be with the Lord, at her home on January 16, 2019 at 3:06 pm. Evelyn was born to Loren and Velma Albright on January 28, 1935 in Kokomo. On October 3, 1953 Evelyn married Charles Kibler who preceded her in death. Evelyn graduated from Kokomo High School, Class of 1952. After high school Evelyn attended Wedkins Beauty College. She worked as a hairdresser for her aunt before opening her own salon in Galveston, IN. After surviving cancer in the early 1960’s she was inspired to become a nurse. She graduated from Indiana University of Kokomo School of Nursing in 1974. She began her career at St. Joseph Hospital. Evelyn first worked as a floor nurse, then became an Enterstomal Therapist in 1983. Although Evelyn never stopped being a nurse, she ended her formal career working in home health care, specializing in wound care. She served the Lord faithfully as a member of Courtland Avenue Friends Church and later as a member of Fair Havens Alliance Church. Evelyn was a talented musician. She directed the church choir most of her adult life. She began playing the piano and organ for church at the age of 13 and played for numerous weddings and funerals. Her family loved hearing her play. For many years Evelyn played for the Transformers gospel quartet. She played her final melody for church the Sunday before her death. Evelyn enjoyed sewing and combined that with her love of missions by making quilts for those in need. She was an inspiration to everyone, giving generously of her time and talents. She was an avid reader, loved traveling, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. Evelyn is survived by son Steven (Karen) Kibler, Noblesville, daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Canady, Logansport, brother Wayne (Anita) Albright, Kokomo, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and her parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor John Zwirn will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday at the mortuary; also one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
