Gregory “Scott” Atkins, 56, of Bunker Hill, passed away at 6:21PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born November 11, 1960 in Kokomo to James R. Atkins Sr. and Wilma Mae (Harrington) Thomas.
Scott was a mechanic for over 36 years, most recently being employed by Recycling and Processing Equipment in Peru. He enjoyed attending dirt-track racing and working on cars. Scott didn’t know a stranger and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his son, Leslie (Jenni Hammac) Atkins; daughter, Amanda Nicole (Mark) Tyler; his parents, James R. Atkins Sr. and Wilma Mae Thomas; stepdaughter, Heavenia Johnson; six grandchildren, Gavin, Mathew, Madyson, Sally, Hunter, and Brody; two brothers, James R. (Lorilie) Atkins Jr. and Joe Dean (Robin Townsend) Atkins; two sisters, Mary Nell (Michael) Dunivan and Melinda Sue (Don) Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Darrell Thomas; and his buddy, William Tyler. .
Celebration of Life will be at later date.
