Hazel enjoyed being outside, especially in her garden. She canned the vegetables that she grew, and was a very good Southern cook. Hazel didn’t know a stranger, she loved to talk and visit with anyone. She was a generous person, and would give you the shirt off her back. Hazel loved her family, and she will be missed.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Dona Newsome; grandson Jason Newsome; sister-in-law Doris Cole of Tazewell, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Friends and family may call from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 23 at 11:00 AM also at the mortuary, with Hazel’s nephew, Pastor Steve Cole officiating. Hazel will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden.
