Obituary of James Allen Fisher
James A. Fisher, 92, Kokomo, passed away February 5th. He was born December 28, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, to Averil and Hazel Fisher. Jim graduated from Kokomo High School in 1944 and played on the 1944 State Runner-Up Wildkat Basketball Team. Jim was a World War II Army Veteran stationed in Okinawa. After serving his country, he returned to Kokomo and married Betty Ellers. Jim founded and was president of Fisher Masonry for over 65 years. He was a master at his craft and set the standard for masonry in Kokomo. It would be difficult to drive any distance in Kokomo without seeing a structure that he did not have a hand in constructing. Jim worked well into his 80’s. Above all, Jim loved his family and close friends. He was a humanitarian, including those that walked on four legs. He was an avid bowler and had wonderful memories of fishing with his father. He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church. Jim is survived by his children, Jeff (Karen) Fisher and Carol (Randy Bush); grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Hubbs, Allyson (Matt) Furculo, Betty Lynn Collins, and Tyler (Emily) Fisher; eight great grandchildren, and close friend, Barbara Alexander. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Kate Johnson and Donald Sharp. A celebration of life will be held at First Christian Church, 854 North 300 West, on Tuesday, February 12th at 11:30 am. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society or First Christian Church.
