

Joseph G. Rosenbach, 83, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Furth, Germany, the son of Julius and Melanie (Angerer) Rosenbach. On Dec. 10, 1960, he married Barbara A. Sholty, and she survives.
Joe and his parents moved to Kokomo to escape the Holocaust in May 1940. He is a member of Temple B’Nai Israel. Joe is a 1952 graduate of Kokomo High School, and a veteran of the Army, having served in the Korean War.
While his children were young, Joe was active in Boy Scouts, 4-H, Police Athletic League, coached Pee Wee League, and was a Haworth Band Booster parent. Joe was a member of the Elks, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, UAW Local 292, the American Legion and Temple B’Nai Prison Ministry Team.
He retired from General Motors-Delco in September 1991. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Michele Rosenbach, Lynette (Harry “Ed”) Cotterman, Janelle (David) Riggs, and Marc (Cindy) Rosenbach; his granddaughter, Jessica Rosenbach; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patricia Sholty; his sister-in-law, Linda Bitner Sholty; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Thomas C. Sholty; and niece, Yvonne M. Sholty.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
