Obituary of Mary Helen Brinkley
Mary Helen McColough Brinkley, 87, passed away on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at 9:21pm at her residence at The Wellington in Kokomo, IN. She was surround by her loved ones and passed peacefully, ending her long battle with Dementia Alzheimer’s. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Hampton Brinkley who passed in 2006, (Brother) James Leroy McColough, (Sisters) Wilma Lucille Mosher & Alice Joan Green, and great grandson Harrison Brinkley. She is survived by her (Sister) Harriette Charlotte McCaskill, her husband Charles McCaskill and children, Lisa and Richard Driftmyer. (Sons) Lawrence Lee Brinkley and his wife Ronda Barber Brinkley & James Joseph Brinkley and his wife Tammy Pfister Brinkley, (Daughter)Belinda Kai Brinkley. (Grandchildren) Eric Brinkley, Landon Brinkley, Cortney Savannah Brinkley Evans and spouse Aaron Evans, Kirsten Brinkley, Amanda Brinkley, David Brinkley and spouse Carly Moore Brinkley. 13 great grandchildren & lastly, her beloved companion, her cat Munchkin. Mary was born in Toledo, OH on January 8, 1931 to Robert and Harriet McColough. She was employed at Maumee Chemical (Spartan Chemical now), in Maumee OH. This is where she met her husband Hugh. They were wed on September 7, 1958. She also was employed at Carnation, Stuckey’s, Hills, Meijer, Walmart & KFC. Mary and Hugh settled in Cincinnati, OH for a time then moved to New York, Kentucky, Indiana eventually settling in Jay County, IN. After the death of her husband Hugh, she moved back to Kokomo. A special thank you to James and Tammy Brinkley for being her caregivers over the last several years. Mary was one of the sweetest people you could meet. She would always put others' needs ahead of her own. She had the best sense of humor, and a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Her strength was unprecedented as she battled Alzheimer’s. She is loved and will be missed by all lives she had touched. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
