

Mary Nell Chapman, 86, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born December 9, 1924, in Greentown, to Lawrence and Mable (Landon) Springer. On May 13, 1942, she married John G. Chapman in the home of Rev. Merton Stanley. John preceded her in death on August 30, 2010. They were married for 68 years.
She graduated from Union Township School in 1942. She was a life-long homemaker, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and special friend to many. She was an active member of the Cassville United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
She is survived by three children, Sandi Garrett, Kokomo, Linda Montgomery, Avondale, Arizona, and Jeff (Sandy) Chapman, Kokomo; nine grandchildren, Eric (Louann) Garrett, Mooresville, Amy Montgomery, Los Angeles, California, Angie Montgomery, Phoenix, Arizona, Aggie (Adam) Simcoe, Seattle, Washington, Amanda (Joe) Childress, Keller, Texas, Michael (Andrea) Chapman, Kokomo, Phil (Jamilee) Chapman, Peru, Jennifer (Sam) Kirby, Greentown, and Mathew Chapman, Kokomo; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Max Springer; sister, Elizabeth Harper; and two sons-in-law, Jerry D. Garrett, and William H. Montgomery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph Hospital and Southern Care Hospice.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
