

David Russell Walter, 78, Sharpsville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015, in Polk County, Florida. He was born October 14, 1936, in Lagrange, Indiana, to J. Russell and Isabel (Schutt) Walter.
Myrtle Ann (Buell) Walter, 75, Sharpsville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015, in Polk County, Florida. She was born December 6, 1939, in Jonesville, Michigan, to Duane F. and Edna J. (Mills) Buell.
David and Myrtle were married on May 21, 1961, in Kendallville, Indiana. They moved to Sharpsville in 1966.
David served in the United States Marine Corp, attaining the rank of sergeant, and later worked at Delco Electronics for 32 years, retiring in 1997.
Myrtle graduated from Quincy High School, in Hillsdale, Michigan, in 1957, and then attended dental hygienist school later working for a dentist for a short time. She also worked for JC Penney, Taylor Community Schools, PM Construction, and eventually opened her own business in the 70’s, Office Services, Inc., which is still in business today.
David and Myrtle had caring hearts, often taking care of others—family, neighbor, colleague, client, church member, or others in need. They never met a stranger. David and Myrtle were both very active members of Fairfield Christian Church where they were baptized on November 30, 1973. David recognized in his long standing role as the facilities manager, and Myrtle formerly taught youth Bible education classes and served on a number of church committees.
Survivors include their son, Scott Russell Walter, Kokomo, Indiana; daughters, Dee Ann (Cevven) Hart, Muncie, Indiana, and Julie (Brian) Fowler, Windfall, Indiana; six grandchildren, Joshua Walter, Nathanial Walter, Kaleb Fowler, Gabriel Fowler, Izaiah Fowler, and DeLila Fowler; and their god daughter, Dorothy Ann “Dot” Elliott, Italy, and her children, Gwen Elliott, Ohio, Catie Elliott, Ohio, and Leann Runyan, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
In addition, David is survived by his siblings, George (Pat) Walter, Tennessee, Becky (Larry) Mayou, West Virginia, Jim Walter and his friend Edith Sprandle, Kendallville, Indiana, Fred Walter, Ohio, and John Walter, Pennsylvania. Myrtle is survived by her siblings, Russell (Nila) Buell, Michigan, and Nancy (Dennis) Rolbiecki, Florida.
David was preceded in death by an infant brother, and they were both preceded in death by their parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Fairfield Christian Church, 1476 E. 400 S., Kokomo, IN 46902. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Christian Church.
