Paul P. “Pete” Guy, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born June 22, 1932, in Campbell County, Tennessee, to Rev. Carl and Dollie (Suttles) Guy. On December 22, 1973, he married Janet Sue Arnold, in Kokomo, and she survives.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later worked at Delco Radio, which became Delco Electronics, and retired from there in 1988 after 32 years of service. After loafing and traveling here and there for about three years, he and Janet started volunteering at Howard Regional Hospital and that continued for 15 years. He then taught himself a little bit about using a computer, and that became a hobby for the rest of his life. He liked NASCAR and football and, at one time, liked to buy, fix, and sell things in his backyard shop.
In addition to his wife, Janet Sue Guy, he is survived by his step-daughter, Becky (Gary) Gibson; three step-grandchildren, Gerald Gibson, Shane Gibson, and Hannah Gonzales; six step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charlie Miller; sisters, Mary (Dave) Jaenicke, and Lois Scott; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Billy Hughes; brother, Orville Guy; sister, Arzola Miller; and brother-in-law, Russell Scott.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Strunk officiating. Military rites will follow. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
