Sherry Ann Eltzeroth, 79, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on September 13, 2025 and has claimed victory over death! She is alive and healthy in the presence of Jesus now and for eternity! Hallelujah!!!
Sherry was born on March 18, 1946, in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of Richard Coning and Dorthy (Tyner) Coning Binkley. She spent her childhood growing up in North Manchester, Indiana, surrounded by a large and loving family before moving to Kokomo, Indiana as a young girl attending Taylor Township School and then graduating from Kokomo High School in 1964 where she was active in Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, Girls Concert Choir, and Yell Block.
On March 18, 1962, she met the man of her dreams, Rick Eltzeroth, while walking home from school and it was love at first sight for them both. Sherry and Rick were married on July 25, 1964 and celebrated 56 years of the longest honeymoon ever.
While living in Burlington, Indiana Sherry and Rick had two children, Brian and Shelli, whom they both loved and cherished. Family meant everything to Sherry and she spent a lifetime helping to raise her three younger brothers and being a surrogate “Mom” to several of her children’s friends, grandchildren and neighbors. Sherry created a loving and welcoming home for anyone who visited whether it was at their home in the country or in the city of Kokomo. She was an amazing cook and even won a blue ribbon for her Chocolate Chip Cookies. Sherry was creative, artistic, had an eye for interior design, clothing, accessories and loved everything that sparkled. Sherry worked at Delco Electronics in several areas and ended her long and distinguished career in the Sales Department, achieving many accommodations, but her biggest reward was the many dear friends that she had made throughout the years.
Sherry and Rick spent their retirement enjoying their time together with family, traveling and having coffee at their favorite local coffee shop meeting up with new and old friends each morning.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Shelli (Sam) Layman; son, Brian (Sally) Eltzeroth, grandchildren, Ashley (Kevin) Heimerdinger, Michael Layman, Nathan Layman, Amanda Eltzeroth; Mitchell Eltzeroth; brothers, Joe (Iffiat) Coning, Jim (Glenda) Coning, sister-in-law’s Bobbie Rusk and Carol Binkley and many cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
Sherry was preceded to heaven by her husband, Rick; her parents Richard, Dorthy, Step-Father Max Binkley; brother Jay Binkley and brother-in-law, Jack Rusk.
Sherry’s daughter and son-in-law would like to publicly acknowledge their deep gratitude to the family, friends and neighbors who checked in, stepped up and filled the gap regularly these past five years. Without their love, support and prayers this journey would have been much, much harder. Trishia, Tammy, Susan, Gene, Carol, Josh, Alicia, Chauntelle, Tim, Alicia, the BB Coffee friends and the Breakfast Club we love and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Visitation will take place from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Ellers Mortuary & Cremation Center.
