

Violet “Vi” Florence (Schaefer) Slifka, 91, passed away on January 10, 2018. She was born to Frederick and Violet (Walton) Schaefer on February 1, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Vi was a graduate of Waterford High School, class of 1943. Vi met her husband, Richard Slifka, while working at A.C. Sparkplug. They married on August 3, 1957, and traveled often together. They visited Clearwater Beach, Florida every spring for 20 years, and Fairfield Glade, Tennessee for 30 years. Richard preceded her in passing on July 2, 2012.
Vi was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Kokomo Garden Club. Vi was an excellent cook, and everyone loved her chicken soup. She loved to listen to her children and grandchildren sing and perform. Vi will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Vi is survived by her daughters, Susan (Walter) Fisher, Ellen (Kevin) Hawes, and Nancy Bank; grandchildren Whitney Martin, Aaron (Kelly) Fisher, Nathan and Clayton Fisher, Joseph Hawes, Simon and Stephen Bank; and two great-grandchildren.
Vi is preceded in passing by her husband; her parents; grandson David G. Martin; and son-in-law Ben Bank.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00PM on Monday, January 15th at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 East Southway Boulevard Kokomo, IN 46902, with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Allison. Friends may also visit with the family 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 17th at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005 at the Chapel of Flowers. Eulogy will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow.
