

William R. “Bob” Hayes, Jr., 65, Tipton, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Howard Regional Hospital. He was born April 1, 1948, in Kokomo, to William Hayes, Sr. and Ella Jean (Karnes) Dillman. On January 6, 1967, he married Penny (Stack) Hayes, and she survives.
He graduated from Kokomo High School and worked as a tool and die maker at Chrysler for 36 years before retiring in 2002. He was an avid IU and Colts fan and was a loving husband and father but especially loved being a grandpa to his grandchildren. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert “Sean” (Jane) Hayes; one daughter, Jennifer (Jeff Gibson) Stacy; three grandchildren, Cody Stacy, Matthew Stacy, Hannah Hayes, and Brandi Lawson; great-grandson, Brayden Lawson; step-mother, Isabelle Hayes; one brother, Kevin (Jennifer) Hayes; three sisters, Sherry Hayes, Teresa (Kerry) Name, and Patricia (Linwood) Sprouse; and three sisters-in-law, Debbie Hayes, Lynn Hayes, and Susan Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one granddaughter, Abigail Hayes; and five brothers, James Hayes, David Hayes, Randy Hayes, Mitchell Pierce, and Kent Pierce.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to Dr. Downing and his staff.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt Gremel officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
