William Eugene Clark

William Eugene Clark of Kokomo, IN, aged 98, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 at Community Howard Regional Health Hospital in Kokomo, IN. A Kokomo native, William was born February 2, 1927 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Lelah Candace (Coppock) Clark. He married the love of his life, Crystal Colleen Silence Hanley on December 25, 1967 at the Kokomo Church of the Brethren.

Mr. Clark proudly served his country in the US Navy from February 9, 1945 to July 9, 1946. In this time he received the American Area Ribbon & Victory Ribbon in World War II. William worked in various factories until he was employed by Chrysler, where he remained for 40 years.

William had special interest in car shows, trains and motorcycle riding on his Gold Wing, taking many trips between the 1980’s and 2010. He attended church faithfully, all his life, and was a member of the Kokomo Church of the Brethren.

Left to cherish William’s memory are his devoted wife, Crystal Colleen Clark; his step-son, Lewis Richard (Robbin) Hanley of Kokomo, IN; step-grandchildren, Heather VanMeter, Kerry (Jill) Hanley, Sheena Hanley, and Ashley (Erick) Carmona all of Kokomo, IN; nephews, Fred Gunnell of Lakeland, FL and Rex A (Kathy) Clark of McDonough, GA; nieces, Shelia (John) Borneman and Pamula (Howard) Eyrich of Birmingham, AL; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lelah Clark; his step-son, Jeffrey David Hanley; step-grandchildren, Lena Colleen Hall and Derek Hanley, and step-grandson-in-law, Brad VanMeter. Also before him were his brothers-in-law whom he loved as brothers, James D Hoover, Jerome “Jerry” Silence and David A Hoover, whose spouses Shelia Hoover of Indianapolis, IN, Judy Silence and Betty Lou Hoover of Indianapolis, IN still survive.

The family is being assisted by Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S Webster St. Kokomo, IN 46902, and no arrangements for services have been made at this time. A Memorial Service to honor William’s life is to be scheduled at a later date.
