Zola Linda Soots

Zola Linda Soots, 71, of Kokomo, IN, passed away on June 10, 2023. Linda was born on September 26, 1951, to Cordie Jones Shoopman and Lawrence Shoopman in Jamestown, TN. She graduated from Lynnwood High School in California. Linda spent most of her life in hospitality and food service. She spent over 15 years at Delphi and about 5 years at Chrysler. Most recently she was working at the Hideout. Despite her health issues, Linda was a very hard worker and never let anything keep her down. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and good old country music.

Linda was preceded in death by Bonzie Jones D’Orazio (sister), Phyllis Jones-McClung (sister), and Roger Jones (brother).

She is survived by lifelong best friend Inky (Lee) Mumaw of Kokomo, IN; Josephine Jones Bogle, of Keystone Heights, FL (sister); Joseph Stokley (Jane) Shoopman, of Oneida, TN (brother); John (Samantha) Jones, of Newton, NC (brother); and James McClung, of LaFollette, TN (brother-in-law).

Linda’s greatest joy was her family; her five children, Tina (Mark) Edwards, Richard Oger, Jimmy (Michele) Oger, Jay (Sarah) Thomas, and Nichole (Ray) Roach. Linda loved being a grandparent and she loved her grandchildren more than anything; grandchildren, Jon (Sarah) Edwards, Jackson Edwards, Ocean Oger, Presleigh (Challen) Hodson, Andrew Oger, Mikayla Oger, James Thomas, Anna Thomas, Jordan Roach, Brittany Roach, and Kayson Gentry-Taylor; great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Oger, Mila Hodson and Ollie Edwards. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering for Linda will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo.
