Words can not express the sorrow I feel hearing that Linda is gone.  My husband and I met her and Bob  when we rented their Banyan Harbor condo 20 years ago.  Linda was one  of the most  gracious ladies I’ve ever met!  For many years we served together on the Banyan Harbor BOD  and her input and magnificently thorough note taking was invaluable .  The last time we talked she was excitedly looking forward to moving to the Mainland to be near her family.  The World has truly lost a treasure with her passing.  May she rest in peace!  She will be missed! . 

Dear Kate and Amy,

Your Mom and Dad were truly loved by me.  Your Mother introduced me to poo poo's on my visit Kauai and your dad and I played golf .  But what I will always remember most is they lived around the corner from me and while campaigning for my first time running for office in Mountain View and I came to their door to give them materials.  They immediately welcomed me into your family.  I spent every Friday night for 3 years coming to their house for dinner.  Your mother was a great and adventurous chef.  Your dad also introduced me to my first taste of deep fried turkey one Thanksgiving.  

Your Mom was a wonderful and kind woman.  Always concerned for others.  I will miss our monthly chats keeping me up to date on what her girls and grandchildren were doing, her walks with the neighbors and the dogs, going to the beach for potlucks and watching the moons over Kauai.

OOPS! Somehow my incomplete message disappeared so I'm sending it again in case it disappeared altogether!

Dear Amy and Kate, 
Although I have never met you, I wanted you to know I was very fond of Linda. Long ago we both served on the CHAC board for many years. She and Bob were very generous with donations of supplies and/or printing from Pioneer Press for CHAC. Our friendship grew. Their move to Kauai was happy for them but a loss for my late husband and me. We did visit 2 or 3 times with Linda. Bob was off golfing during our first visit and had gone to golfing in the sky by our next visit. (Linda's words). She was unfailingly gracious. Our phone calls were many. She always asked about CHAC and was happy to know that CHAC was able to expand our mental health services, though worried that not enough funding was available! That was a never ending concern when we both were on the CHAC board. (I'm still a CHAC board member). 
Unfortunately she didn't share her health problems so I finally would learn about them from Rosiland when she finally learned of them. 
Your loss is hard — no doubt any time we lose our mother is hard. But I hope all the good memories over the years will bring you solace. My heart goes out to you both.  Linda was a good person-thoughtful, funny, concerned. And she loved being a grandmother. That was the one drawback of living on Kauai.

Dear Amy and Kate,
My parent's were friends with your parent's in Mtn View and that is how I met them.
 My parent's and I visited your Mom in Kauai while your Dad played golf in Australia. We went out to dinner one night. And then the next day came over to their home and sat out on the porch and ate  lots of cheeses and bread and crackers and strawberries that we dipped in chocolate! Your Mom was quite the hostess! And we talked and talked and her two cute dogs were around. It was such a great fun time! 
In Jan 2012, I visited your Mom by myself and she was so sweet to me! I had broken my foot while getting into a boat to see the whales. I was in a lot of pain so we didn't do much but she drove me around and we spent time together and she was so very sweet to me! We went to this small garden and she picked off three of  these hard blue shell pieces from a bush. They looked like big blueberries. She told me that they have strong meaning and to make a wish and throw them. I did this later before I left Kauai.  She told me about her neighbor friends that she was very close too.  And they would  get together during the full moon to celebrate it. I thought that was so special! Your Mom seemed to me to be a very spiritual woman!
We visited her I think it was a year or two later and we went out to dinner. A great place, sort of more in the country that she picked out. I think it was called The Postcard. At that time my Dad wasn't doing very well. I asked the waiter to take a picture of us. I will look for the picture and send a copy to give to Rosalind to give to the two of you.  
My heart goes out to the two of you! You must be in shock! You are too young to lose your parent's!
