

Mary Ann “Pauline” Ornellas Fernandes of Kapa’a, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born on August 25th, 1929, in Kilauea, Kaua’i. Mary Ann “Pauline” was an exceptional cook and baker, and her holiday decorations were always a sight to behold. Above all else, she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her catholic faith and family, Mary Ann’s legacy of love and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Fernandes Jr, and daughter, Caleen (Jerry) Kubota. She is survived by children Robbie John Fernandes, Annette (Alan) Hashimoto, Lawrence (Wallis) Fernandes, Anita Fernandes, and Stacie (Ismael) Cantu, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three sisters Theresa Martins of Kapahi, Sister Catherine Ornellas of Iowa, and Eva Hieronymus of Oregon, as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish (Kawaihau) on July 17th 2024. Visitation will begin at 9 am with Mass beginning at 10 am.
The family requests conservative casual attire and graciously declines flowers.
