Jean S Cotten

Jean S Cotten, age 82, of Harlingen, Texas went to be with the Lord. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Jean was born September 16, 1939. In December 1959, she married Kenneth Ross who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Ken Ross (wife, Mati) and her daughters, Theda Ann Moss (husband Gary), Mickie Jean Wetherington (husband, Walter 'Woody'), Belinda Sanchez (husband John) and Christine McNaughton (husband Jeff). On August 30, 1980, she married James 'Jim' Cotten and gained three more daughters, Terry Apter (husband Billy), Jennifer Paulson and Ruth Ann (Annie, husband Steven). Jean is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Jean was a pastor, wife, mother, friend and trailblazer who loved the Lord. She was the first female cable splicer for Southwestern Bell and started the first girls little league teams in Texas. She opened the first battered women's shelter in Cameron County and went on to serve on the board of three additional shelters, serving as president for two. Jean was also a florist, owner and operator of The Cotten Patch in Harlingen, Texas. She was a servant of the Lord and spent much of her life helping those who were downtrodden and overlooked by society. Jean was loved, admired and appreciated and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
