

Daniel Z. Gonzalez was born June 28, 1925 to Daniel Gonzalez and Inez Zubia Gonzalez. Dan spent several years at Shriners Hospital following a sled accident at a young age. He was diagnosed with TB in the hip and had multiple surgeries while in San Francisco. He returned to his family in Sun Valley California. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School. He married Elisa Estrada in 1945. He and Elisa built a life in Sunland and Sun Valley California, where they raised their three children Richard, Margaret (deceased) and Jean. Upon his mother's death in 1965, Dan's sister Marina moved in with them. Dan worked over 20 years for the US Postal Service as mailman and clerk, retiring in the mid 70's. In 1971 they moved to Lake View Terrace, sharing their property with horses, chickens, ducks and goats. In 1985 Dan and Elisa moved to Lemon Grove California to be closer to their daughter Jean. In 1991 they relocated to Lancaster CA until the death of Elisa in 1999. After this he spent a short time in Paso Robles, California. Later, he split his time between Wyoming with his son Richard and his daughter Jean in San Diego. He passed away at his daughter Jean's home on August 20, 2022. In his lifetime Dan was a part of the Sun Valley Optimist Club, Deliveries of Meals for Seniors and an active volunteer for the Los Angeles Recreation & Parks. All of his siblings pre-deceased him as well as his daughter Margaret. He is survived by his son Richard (Sherri) and daughter Jean (Walter). He also is survived by granddaughter, Mandy (Wayne), grandsons, Aaron, Levi, Ezekiel, Gabriel and two great grandchildren, Samuel and Justa.
