Dorothy Lee Ferguson was born on September 21, 1928 in La Junta, CO, to Rev. Paul and Grace Ferguson. She spent her youth in several Colorado towns before moving to Cheyenne, WY as a teenager. It was there she met her best friend and husband-to-be, Don, at the church her father pastored. Don and Dorothy were married in 1950 and began their young family in Redlands, CA, where Dorothy was employed by the Redlands School District in the accounting department. In 1965 they relocated to San Diego, CA; Dorothy taking a position at KPBS-TV. She retired in 1985 as assistant program director after a rewarding career. Upon retirement she and Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and traveling in the US and abroad.
Dorothy was most passionate about her immediate family, which led to her interest in genealogy. She spent countless hours researching facts, updating family trees and discovering scores of “lost cousins.” She also enjoyed crocheting, tole painting, reading, games and crafts.
Dorothy loved everyone, and with her friendly, kind, humble and humorous personality made friends with ease. However, her top priority was always God, church and family. She faithfully served and loved the Lord all of her days, stating “He is my all!” We rejoice that she is now in heaven with her Lord, beloved husband, family and friends.
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
