Frank Salvador Mascari

On Friday, May 31st, 2024, Frank Salvador Mascari, beloved husband of Bernice B. Mascari, went to his eternal home. He was 90 years old, born to Lawrence and Madeline Mascari on August 31st, 1933. He had eight siblings, all born in the city of Racine, Wisconsin.

Frank moved to San Diego, California, where he grew up and graduated from St. Augustine High School. He then met his high school sweetheart, Bernice, and they were married for over 70 wonderful years. Shortly after they were married, Frank joined the United States Marines, serving our country faithfully.

Frank received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from San Diego State University, and continued on to reside in Spring Valley, California for 60 years with his wife and family. He opened his own Accounting & Tax Business in which he served the community for 42 years.

Frank & Bernice are founding families of Whispering Winds Catholic Camp, located in the beautiful mountains of Julian, California, where he & Bernice started Family Camps 31 years ago. They were dedicated to helping others come to know and follow Jesus.

Amongst his favorite pastimes: Frank loved vacationing with his family, fishing on the river, snow skiing, and traveling with his wife and friends all over the world. He loved his unique garden of beautiful roses, that he carefully grew with his tender, loving care.

Frank was highly respected by many in his church community, by his friends and family; he was the most kind, caring, and generous-spirited man. He was always stepping up to help those in need, never counting the cost.

He was a sweet, jovial, fun-loving, wise, and trustworthy man, and he was always pointing others to the love of Jesus, his Lord and Savior!

Most importantly, Frank left behind a grand legacy of love: a beautiful marriage of over 70 years, two sons and five daughters along with their spouses, 37 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren; all of whom love and serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Frank was a true man of God, who will be greatly missed, until we meet again someday in our eternal home of heaven.

Funeral services for Frank Mascari will be August 9, 2024 at Santa Sophia Catholic Church (9800 San Juan St. Spring Valley, CA 91977). Rosary will begin at 10:30 am followed by a Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whispering Winds Catholic Camp & Conference Center.
