In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lee Burgess Welborn, and his 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, Arlen Gene Welborn of LaGrange and son and son-in-law, Roger Dean Welborn and David Torok of Washington, DC
Mr. Welborn served his country as a solider in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. As a Staff Sargent, he served two tours of duty as a helicopter maintenance mechanic at Cu Chi outside Saigon. He was also a long time member of the Wehadkee Baptist Church in LaGrange. During the last two decades of his life, he developed a love for riding motorcycles, especially on weekend charity rides.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, GA. Interment will follow at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10:00 am prior to the funeral.
