Arthur Watson

Mr. Watson was born October 14, 1929 in Carrollton, GA, son of the late James Claude Watson and Dana Arthur Watson. He has lived in LaGrange since 1967 and was the former co-owner of Dixie Well Boring Company before retiring. Mr. Watson has been a member of Rosemont Baptist Church for 43 years and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. During his life, he served on many civic organizations and associations, including Past President and member of the Gideon’s International; Past President of the Paulding County Ruritan Club; Member of the Georgia Well Drilling Association; Member of the Alabama Ground Water Association; Member of the National Ground Water Association; and a Mason with the Villa Rica Lodge where he served as the Worshipful Master. Mr. Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of Corporal.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances Watson; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Don and Nancy Watson and Darrin Watson, all of LaGrange, two grandchildren and their spouses, Jim and Sheridan Watson of Vinings, GA and Allison and Dave Moon of Helena, AL; two great grandchildren, Blake Moon and Thomas Moon; one sister and brother-in-law, Dallas and Tom Richardson of Lithia Springs, GA; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ridley Watson of Lithia Springs, GA and Ikey and Diane Watson of Douglasville, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Rosemont Baptist Church with Reverend Max McCord and Reverend Ikey Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of his wife, Frances Watson, and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Gideon’s International, Troup County Camp, P.O. Box 2793, LaGrange, GA 30241 in memory of Mr. Arthur Watson.
