C. Leon Pitts

C. Leon Pitts, age 78, passed away at his home New Year’s Day 2012. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Hale Pitts, his children Pat and David Cameron of Moss Point, MS, Dr. Chuck and Cheryl Pitts of LaGrange, GA, Paula and Ben Broadwater of Mobile, AL, his grandchildren, Carrera Cameron of Daphne, AL, Jessica and Joel Scott of LaGrange, GA and Jordan and Daniel Child of LaGrange, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Rogers.

Mr. Pitts was a life long LaGrange native having graduated from LaGrange High School and LaGrange College. He received his Masters in Business Administration from Emory University. Leon was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He served the Callaway family, its companies and organizations for 54 years beginning in 1949. Leon was an Eagle Scout, Certified Public Accountant and past President of LaGrange Rotary Club having been honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the Board of Governors at Highland Country Club and the Board of Trustees of West Georgia Health.

The family will be at their home prior to visitation at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 4 in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church on the Square. The funeral service will start at 3:00 pm followed by internment at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in memory of C. Leon Pitts.
