
Eileen Pittman Newton Walker, a resident of Carrollton, Georgia for eight years, most recently at the Stewart House, died November 1, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born February 26, 1929 in Dothan, Alabama, and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where she attended Phillips High School.
She married James W. Walker Jr. April 30, 1949 and raised their five children in Briarcliff Manor, New York. The loving couple of sixty-three years also lived in Decatur, Georgia, Louisville, Kentucky, Northern Virginia, and Haverford, PA.
She attended Montevallo University where she studied music, and received her Bachelor's of Museology from Marymount University. An accomplished cellist and pianist, she taught piano and was a member for many years of the Musical Coterie of Wayne, PA.
As a mother of five, grandmother of fifteen, and great-grandmother of fourteen, she was devoted to all children, teaching in the Presbyterian Church Sunday schools, serving on the PTA, and running Camp Cahaba every summer. She also was a long term fundraiser for the Heart Fund.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: James and Diane Walker, Michael and Carol Walker, Lee and Ralph Doty, Helen and Brian Nolan, and Caroline and Dr. Stephen Kahler, her fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, and fourteen great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carrollton Presbyterian Church of Carrollton, GA. at 14 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30117, where visitation will be held on Sunday November 6 at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
