

Grover was born December 10, 1930 in Randolph County, AL, son of the late Charlie Matthew Parmer and Martha Jane Driver Parmer. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life, and along with his brothers, Alvin, Namon, and J.W. , owned and operated Parmer Brothers’ Grocery for many years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church and the Troup Travelers. Grover loved working in the yard, camping, fishing, traveling, and Auburn Football. He was also a great cook.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Knight Parmer; sons, Keith and Ellen Parmer, Johnny and Laurie Webb, and Wayne and Nichole Webb; grandchildren, Chase Parmer, Beth Parmer, Courtney Mobley, Jacob Webb, Brandon Webb, and Kevin Webb; a sister, Lucille Hester; brother and sister-in-law, J. W. and Betty Sue Parmer; sisters-in-law, Barbara Parmer Brown and Catherine Knight Estes; a special nephew, Greg and Janice Parmer, and their children, Cody and Kayla; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Fannie Moon.
Grover was preceded in death by his first wife, Maryjim Culpepper Parmer; a sister, Eula Gosdin; brothers, Ralph, Namon, and Alvin Parmer; and a granddaughter, Ashley Gayle Webb.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with Rev. Nick Pilgrim and Rev. Bobby Gough officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to West Georgia Hospice in memory of Grover Parmer.
