Johnson Jay Nixon, Jr.

Mr. Nixon was born April 30, 1926 in Bowdon, Carroll County, GA to the late Johnson Jay Nixon, Sr. and Ella Mae Wright Nixon. He began his employment as a heavy equipment operator for Wayne Nixon Construction and retired from Keeble Construction. Mr. Nixon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Grayhill Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Vaughn Nixon; daughter, and his seven siblings.

Survivors include his daughter, Lana (Johnny) Clary; grandchildren, Jana (Jeremy) Jones, Jeni (Bobby) McClellan, and Jamie (Valarie) Clary all of LaGrange, GA; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Life Celebration Service will be held 11:00am Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. David Cross and Rev. Jerry Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery.
