"Mama" Louise Steele

Mrs. Steele was born August 25, 1937 in Randolph County, Roanoke, AL, daughter of the late Jeff Townley and Ella I Donnie Freeman Townley. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and enjoyed being involved with the Women of Lakeview Exercise Class. “Mama Louise” was an avid gardener, devoting time in prayer while her hands worked the soil. She worked at Mansour’s for a number of years, was a loving homemaker and proudly earned her GED at the age of 61. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace H. “Doc” Steele; a daughter, Mottis Earlene McGuire; a son, Alvin Lamar “Butch” Steele and a grandson, Kenny Harris.

Survivors include her five children, Susie McLeroy of Hogansville; Charles Bruce of Ellijay, GA, Tim Steele of Five Points, AL, Rocky Steele of Five Points, AL, and Deborah Byrd of Five Points, AL; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, April 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Tommy McLeroy and Reverend Lamar Truitt officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
