

Born on May 15, 1915 in Fayetteville, GA, she was the daughter of Mitchell Lee Seagraves, Sr. and Louella Perry Seagraves. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of the West Georgia College in Carrollton. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of LaGrange since 1941. During her nearly 70 years there, she was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union, the Merrymakers, and a member of the Gleaner’s Sunday School Class. She was also chairperson of Camp Viola for many years. One of her prized possessions was a pin commemorating her 50 years of volunteer service with the Red Cross. Mrs. Davis was a lifelong lover of travel and enjoyed many journeys with friends and family to destinations around the globe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gaddy Davis; a brother, M. L. Seagraves, Jr.; and three sisters, Wilda S. Jackson, Hilda S. Butts, and Harriet S. Page.
Mrs. Davis is survived by nieces and nephews, Lee and Susan Seagraves of LaGrange, Charlotte and Dan Brady of Morrow, Ginger and Bill Farrell of Havana, FL, Jay and Ellen Butts of LaGrange, and Frank and Melissa Jackson of Austin, TX. She is also survived by twelve great nieces and nephews, Jamie, Mitchell and Lindsey Seagraves, Jackie Brady McMahon (Tommy), Bill Brady (Amanda), Ashlee Farrell Searcy (Brian), Tripp Farrell, Michael Farrell, John Butts, Page Butts Timmerman (Brent), Emily Butts and Wroe Jackson; five great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great nephew.
A private family burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 followed by a Memorial Service at First Baptist Church on the Square at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Blair officiating.
The family will gather at the church, in the Welcome Center, immediately following the memorial service to receive friends.
The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Poplar Creek for the care given to Mrs. Davis while a resident there.
