Steve Edward Byrd

Steve was born May 18, 1961 in Langdale, AL, son of the late George Edward Byrd and Nellie Lee Mitchell Byrd. He was Baptist by faith and was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. Steve was employed with Mountville Mill as a maintenance technician before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Restrepo, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Horace and Louise Steele.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Byrd; children, Jason Davis (Rian), Shellie Whaley (Casey), and Dustin Byrd (Angel); grandchildren, Shadow Ledbetter, Kayla Estes, Elizabeth Estes, Shade Whaley, Christian Davis, Abbigale Restrepo, Susie Restrepo, Brody Davis, Daphane Davis, and Damien Restrepo; sibings, Bobby Duclose, Dorothy Burwell (Warren), Patsy Brock (Olen), Tom Byrd, and Martha Byrd; brothers-in-law, Rocky Steele, Tim Steele, and Robert Wright; sister-in-law, Susie McElroy (Tommy); numerous nieces and nephews including Rodney Steele; close friends, Robbie Dollar, Joann Storay, Beth Hand, Wayne Miles (Jeri), and Lisa Thompson (Jim); and his loving dogs, Trixie, Winston, and Spike.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA with Steve’s close and dear friend, Dr. Mike Reeves, officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
