

Mr. Rimmer was born November 1, 1946 in Atlanta, son of the late William Coleman Rimmer, Jr. and Phyllis Kells Watson Rimmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. During his service career, he was a member of the Honor Guard and Ceremonial guard, having served as a pallbearer for President Lyndon B. Johnson. After his career in the Navy, he was also a private instructor for practical marksmanship and trained units of the Navy SEALs, Delta Force, several General’s and the Secret Service. He was also a retired Deputy from the Wilkes County Sheriff’s office. He received an award for heroism from the Troup County Sheriff’s office after rescuing an elderly couple at West Point Lake. Mr. Rimmer was the CEO of Cooper Lake Automotive.
Survivors include his sons, Jimmy (Celeste) Meacham of Powder Springs, William Crawford (Susan) Rimmer, Jr. of Austell, Robert Coleman Rimmer of McDonough, and John Coleman (Slade) Rimmer of Molena; significant other, DeLaine Hudson of LaGrange; sisters, Kathy (Doyle) Hagler of Pine Mountain and Te (Firas) Obeidat of Marietta; grandchildren, Ashley Meacham, Tyler Meacham, Madison Rimmer, Maddox Rimmer, Autumn Rimmer, Taylor Rimmer, Mary-Claire Rimmer and Riley Rimmer; step-parents, Merrell Upton and Margie Avery; nephews, Jesse and Jake Hagler and Zak and Sami Obeidat; and lifelong special friend, Ramona Rimmer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rimmer was preceded in death by his twin brother, Phillip Kells Rimmer.
The family will gather to receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Andy Konigsmark officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of William C. ‘Bill’ Rimmer, Sr.
