Calvin Manuel, 98, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was born on October 24, 1926, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

A proud veteran, Calvin honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. His dedication to his country was a testament to his strength and character.

Calvin was a longtime member of Community Christian Church, where he served faithfully as an elder for many years. He had a deep love for the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible and sharing his faith with others. He also found joy in spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, bowling, traveling, gardening, and cherishing the simple blessings of life.

Calvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Dennis Manuel (Patty) of Moss Bluff, LA; Vallie Manuel Guillory (Cornelius) of Mauriceville, TX; Connie Manuel Coco of Lake Charles, LA; and Pansy Manuel Gabbard Marsiglia (Sam) of Lake Charles, LA.

He was a beloved grandfather to ten grandchildren: Danny Manuel, David Manuel, Adam Manuel, Laura Manuel, Monica Comeaux, Jason Guillory, April Coco, Daniel Coco, Michael Coco, and Bradley Gabbard. His legacy continues through his eighteen great-grandchildren: Gage Manuel, River Manuel, Dillan Manuel, Wyatt Gavitt, CJ Manuel, Lochlan Broussard, Chloe Guillory, Summer Guillory, Zayne Coco, Allie Hanson, Carl Coco, Jonathan Coco, Reid Coco, Dean Coco, Grace Link-Gabbard, Gabrielle Link-Gabbard, Bailee Gabbard, and Cullen Gabbard, as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Whitley Coco and Scarlett Gavitt.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty J. Manuel; sons, George Bruce Manuel and Christopher Layne Manuel; siblings, Velma Doucet, Iola Reed, and Harvey Manuel; grandson, Justin Manuel; and sons-in-law, Jack Farquhar and Danny Lee Gabbard.

The family will welcome the public for visitation Friday, March 21, 2025 at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home from 9 AM until time of service at 11 AM . Interment will follow up Black Bayou Cemetery.

The family would like to extend an invitation to friends and relatives for food and fellowship at Pansy & Sam's home following services.
