Doris Boggs Moon, 89, passed from this life into the arms of God on Monday, August 23, 2010. Mrs. Moon was a resident of Ragley and a member of Topsy Baptist Church. She was born on September 5, 1920, the youngest of 11 children to William H. and J. B. Boggs in Rock Mills, Alabama. She married Calvin S. Moon in 1940.
Mrs. Moon began her working career early in life to help support her aging parents, having worked in cotton mills in Rock Mills, AL and LaGrange, GA. After moving to Lake Charles with her husband to begin a new career here, she worked in the school cafeterias in Calcasieu at Marion and LaGrange schools and retired from LaGrange.
Sometime in the early 50’s Mrs. Moon and her husband heard of the great love of Jesus and made a decision to trust Him as Lord of her life and give her everlasting life. She left this life for heaven because of that decision and because of her love for Jesus Christ. She had been a faithful church member at Topsy, Twelfth Street, Bethel, and East LaGrange Baptist Churches.
Mrs. Moon is survived by two children, Calvin Don Moon and wife, Alice of Moss Bluff and Linda Moon Harvey and husband, Larry of Ragley, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Calvin S. Moon and her twin sister, Dot Boggs and her other siblings.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jackie, Shirley and Lois for the love they showed and the care they gave her at home. Also, to the staff at the Care Center of DeQuincy and Heart of Hospice for the loving care they provided.
