Dorothy Donaldson

She was born February 8, 1924 in Shreveport, LA to Darl and Mary (Carlisle) Bell. She married Douglas Donaldson on August 8, 1943 in Natchitoches, he preceded her in death. Her parents and one brother, Darl Bell also preceded her in death.

Surviving is her son Greg Donaldson and wife JaDene of Bastrop, TX; Douglas Graham Donaldson Jr of Lafayette, two brothers Bobby Bell and wife Edwina of Sulphur and Edwin Bell of Lake Charles, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy graduated from Northwestern University of Louisiana with a Master’s degree in education. She worked as a teacher for over 36 years in Sulphur with the Calcasieu Parish School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles, the Lake Charles Art Society and life master’s in bridge.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm and will resume Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 10:00 am until service at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. A funeral service will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles. The Rev. Chandler Willis will officiate. Entombment will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.
