Gertrude Ann Tyler

Gertrude Ann Tyler passed away on Monday, January 20, 2017, at the age of 81. Ann was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1953. Ann graduated from Louisiana State University in 1969 with a master’s degree in social work. She worked as a counselor and director to the Campfire Girls for several years. Ann worked for and retired from Louisiana child Welfare Services in Lake Charles.

Ann is preceded in death by her father, Joe T. Tyler; mother, Minnie F. Tyler; Sister Betty Rosteet; and close friend, Jessie Varnado. Ann is survived by her brother, Joe Tyler (Mary) of Baton Rouge; nieces, Sharon Constance of Lake Charles, Carolyn Reed of Baton Rouge, and Sandy Fambrough (John) of Flower Mound, Texas; and her nephew Andy Tyler (Jackie) of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews, Elyssa Constance, Joshua Hitt, Christopher Reed, Lauren Reed, Brandon Tyler, and Matthew Tyler. She is also survived by her two furry sons, Charles and Edward.

A life well lived gathering will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 1PM until 3PM to honor her memory.
